Background

A San Francisco Bay Area native, DJ Mixwell set out to conquer the entertainment scene over 15 years ago. Starting out as a trained drummer, Mixwell’s ear for beat matching and blending tempos gives him expert-level knowledge to seamlessly mix tracks ranging from Pink Floyd to Jay-Z. With a laser focused passion for mixing an extensive range of musical genres and a keen eye for reading the crowd, Mixwell has become a leading force in entertainment.

Over the past decade and a half he’s worked for clients that range from high-end hotels to fortune 500 tech companies and has opened for some of musics brightest stars. As a leading DJ who can mix sound, video, and live music, Mixwell has shared the stage with the likes of Katy Perry, DJ Premier, Flo Rida and Imagine Dragons. He's been featured in Today’s Bride Magazine, The Knot and has performed for clients like What's App, Super Bowl 50, Apple, Adobe and Google. He’s created dance sets for weddings and venues including Hotel Vital, Bently Reserve, Moscone Center, Mountain Winery and Terra Gallery.

Mixing philosophy

Mixing is an art. Songs are only transitioned seamlessly when a dj is mindful of the tracks tempo, key and energy. Beyond the technical aspect of the mix, what really makes a great dj is his/her ability to read the crowd, take requests, and test boundaries. Don't surrender your special event to a DJ without a firm grasp of the fundamentals of a DJ skill set.

what i've been up to

In 2014 I joined two of my best friends, DJ Jason Mitchell and Adam Goldstein to form the best company in the world, Gatsby Entertainment. In four short years we've taken Gatsby from nothing to one of the largest entertainment and lighting companies in Northern California. Our success has a lot to do with our passion in producing events and rocking crowds. Jason says it best: "we've built this off of turntables and determination". I truly LOVE what I do and am so lucky to be a part of something so amazing.
